Common questions
What is a credit?
Credits are how calls are paid for. A lookup is 1, a name check is 3, a state fee, compliance deadline, processing time or tax registration call is 1 per state (never more than 10), and Search all is 1 per 25 results. You're only charged when data comes back: searches with no results and calls that fail are free.
Do unused credits carry over?
No. Credits reset on the 1st of each month (UTC). There's no rollover.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Calls return a 429 error that says when your credits reset. Your dashboard warns you at 80% and lets you request a bigger plan in one click.
How do I upgrade or downgrade?
Pick a plan here or on your dashboard. We email you a payment link, and your new credits apply as soon as it's paid, usually within one business day. To change or cancel a plan, email hello@tirthak.in. Your plan stays active for the period you've paid for, then moves to Free.
Can I get a refund?
No. Payments for plans and credits are final, including unused credits and plans cancelled partway through a month. The only exception is a billing error, such as being charged twice. Try the Free plan and the Playground first to make sure the API fits your needs. See the refund policy for details.
How are state fee calls charged?
1 credit per state that returns fees, never more than 10 per call, so every state at once costs 10. Calls that return no fees are free, and asking only for fees that changed since your last sync is free when nothing changed. The Free plan can ask for up to 5 states per call.
How are processing time calls charged?
The same as state fees: 1 credit per state that returns processing times or expedite options, never more than 10 per call. Estimated approval dates and live backlogs cost nothing extra. Calls that return nothing are free. The Free plan can ask for up to 5 states per call.
How are tax registration calls charged?
The same as state fees: 1 credit per state that returns registration requirements, never more than 10 per call. A state that doesn't levy a tax (Oregon has no sales tax, for example) still counts as an answer. Calls that return nothing are free. The Free plan can ask for up to 5 states per call.
How are compliance deadline calls charged?
The same as state fees: 1 credit per state that returns deadlines, never more than 10 per call. Exact due dates for a company cost nothing extra, and so does the IRS Form 5472 deadline for foreign-owned companies. Calls that return nothing are free. The Free plan can ask for up to 5 states per call.
How is Search all charged?
1 credit per 25 results: 1–25 results is 1 credit, 26–50 is 2, and so on. Add limit to your request to get fewer results and pay less. Name searches need at least 3 letters or digits.
What are calls per minute and per day?
How fast you can call the API, counting every call (free ones too). Going over returns a 429 with a Retry-After header; the website's own tools wait and carry on by themselves.
Is there a free trial?
The Free plan is the trial: 50 credits a month, forever, no credit card needed.
Can I open more than one free account?
No. It's one free account per person. Temporary email addresses can't sign up, and aliases of the same inbox (like name+test@gmail.com) count as the same address.
Need more than 2,000 credits a month?
Enterprise plans have custom volume and price, up to 300 calls a minute, dedicated support, and more states on request.
